Seilebost Beach Original Commission Painting

Seilebost Beach Painting

I painted this view of Seilebost Beach on the Isle of Harris, aiming to capture the expansive and ever-changing colours of the landscape. The deep blues and greens of the water stand out against the lighter sand, with the shoreline guiding the eye across the bay towards the distant hills. This layout creates a sense of space and depth, something I often try to convey in my work.

The colours in the painting shift depending on the light, much like they do in real life. I focused on the way the sunlight catches the shallow water along the shore, highlighting flashes of turquoise and blue. This is a characteristic feature of the Hebridean coastline that I find particularly inspiring.
