About this painting.
As a Scottish artist, I’ve always been drawn to the unique mood and light of our cities after dark. My original Scottish landscape painting, 'Glasgow Moonlight', is my personal tribute to the powerful, quiet atmosphere of Glasgow Harbour at night.
When I was creating this piece, my focus wasn't just on the buildings, but on the feeling of the city. I wanted to capture the way the bright, electric lights of the city centre and the Finnieston Crane itself shatter and reflect on the deep, still water of the River Clyde. This nocturnal cityscape painting is all about that dramatic contrast—the deep, rich blues of the night sky against the sharp, vibrant bursts of yellow, white, and orange lights.
For me, this original painting (which I use as a flagship example in my Edinburgh & Glasgow Art Gallery collection) is the perfect starting point for a bespoke painting commission. Many of my clients love this moody, reflective style. Originals typically take around 4 weeks to complete, though I will do my best to accommodate tighter deadlines. Each painting is created on a high-quality, deep-edge canvas with a depth of 3.8cm (1.5 inches) and is available in bespoke sizes to fit your space.
