About this painting.
Ah, the Glenfinnan Viaduct. It's one of those views that just is Scotland, isn't it? Standing there, waiting for the Jacobite Steam Train – or the Hogwarts Express, as so many know it – to cross that magnificent structure, it’s pure theatre. When I decided to capture this scene in an original painting, I wanted to convey that sense of drama and the sheer scale of the landscape.
You see the viaduct curving through the glen, the rugged Scottish Highlands rising all around it. My focus was on the light and atmosphere – trying to capture that often-moody Highland sky and the way the light catches the steam from the train and the stonework of the bridge. It's more than just painting a landmark; it's about capturing a moment, that feeling of anticipation and the raw beauty of the location.
This original painting from Scotland uses texture and a dynamic palette to bring the scene to life. I wanted you to almost hear the train and feel the vastness of the glen. As a contemporary Scottish artist, painting iconic locations like the Glenfinnan Viaduct is always special, especially one so famous from the Harry Potter films.
Whether you're a fan of steam trains, Harry Potter, or simply the stunning Scottish landscape, I hope this original painting brings a piece of that iconic Highland magic into your home. It’s my interpretation of a truly unforgettable Scottish view.
Thanks for viewing and reading about my artwork, and please don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions, Kevin.

My Framed & Mounted Prints: A Complete, Gallery-Ready Finish
I believe that when you invest in a piece of my art, you should have the full gallery experience in your own home. That’s why I’m proud to offer my prints professionally framed and mounted—creating a complete work of art that’s ready to hang and enjoy the moment it arrives.
I’ve worked closely with my specialist framing partners here in Scotland to personally select the perfect combination of materials. Every choice is deliberate, designed to both protect and beautifully present my work for decades to come.
My Commitment to Quality in Every Detail:
The Museum-Quality Print: To ensure the print is as vibrant as my original painting, I use the Giclée method on a premium, heavyweight fine art paper. The archival inks and the paper's beautiful, gentle texture mean that every brushstroke and colour is captured with an accuracy that I stand behind.
The Conservation Mount: To give the artwork breathing room and a classic, elegant look, I include a conservation-grade, off-white window mount. Crucially, it’s acid-free, meaning it will never discolour or damage the print over time. I’m also proud that this matboard is FSC certified, sourced from sustainable forests.
The Handmade Solid Wood Frame: I’ve chosen a timeless frame crafted from high-quality solid wood. The simple, clean lines and elegant satin finish complement my art perfectly without ever distracting from it, ensuring it looks at home in any interior.
The Professional Finish: Every piece is handmade to order by specialist picture framers who then professionally seal the back and pre-install all the hanging hardware. My goal is for you to receive a flawlessly finished piece of art that is effortless to display.
My Museum-Quality Giclée Prints (Unframed)
For me, a print must capture the heart and soul of my original painting. That's why I've put so much care into ensuring these reproductions are as close to my original vision as possible. I work with specialist printers to create these beautiful, unframed fine art prints, giving you a perfect piece of my art that you can frame to match your own personal style.
My Commitment to Quality in Every Print:
Vibrant Giclée Printing: I use the giclée printing method, a sophisticated process trusted by museums and galleries worldwide. It uses high-fidelity archival inks to create a stunningly accurate and vibrant reproduction of my original artwork, ensuring every colour and brushstroke is captured.
Archival Fine Art Paper: Your artwork will be printed on a heavyweight (200gsm), museum-quality paper. I specifically chose this paper for its beautiful, subtly textured surface and elegant matt finish, which feels substantial and luxurious to the touch.
Stunning Colour and Detail: The non-reflective matt finish is crucial; it allows the deep colours and subtle tones of my painting to shine through without any distracting glare. I find it truly does the original piece justice.
