About this painting.
There's something incredibly atmospheric about being high up in the Scottish Highlands when the mist rolls in, especially among the Munros. That feeling – the mystery, the diffused light, the way the landscape seems to appear and disappear – is what inspired this original painting, "Into the Munro Mist". It's less about a specific peak and more about capturing that enveloping, atmospheric experience.
This piece leans heavily into abstract art. I wanted to convey the mood rather than a literal scene. Using layers of paint and focusing on texture, I tried to suggest the swirling mist and the immense, partially hidden forms of the Scottish mountains. It's an abstract landscape, playing with cool colours, light, and shadow to evoke that feeling of being immersed in the elements.
