Plockton... it's one of those uniquely charming spots in the Scottish Highlands. When I decided to capture it in this original painting, I wanted to convey that almost idyllic feeling you get there – the calm waters of the harbour reflecting the colourful houses and boats, all under that special West Highland light.
This isn't just a representation; it's about the atmosphere. I focused on the interplay of light on the water and the textures of the village nestled against the shore. As a contemporary Scottish artist, capturing the essence and mood of these iconic locations, like Plockton village, is what drives my work. You'll see I've used layers of colour to build up the depth, hoping to give a sense of peace and tranquility that I felt while sketching there.
