About this painting.
When I stood before the Old Man of Storr, I wasn’t just seeing a rock formation; I was feeling the immense, raw energy of Skye. That’s what I wanted to capture in this piece. For me, it wasn’t about painting every detail perfectly, but about conveying the spirit of the place.
I used thick layers of paint, applying it with a palette knife to build up the rugged texture of the land and the Storr itself. You can see the history of the landscape in those layers – the wind, the rain, the sheer ancient power of it all. The colours are a deliberate choice to heighten the emotion of the scene. The sky isn’t just blue; it’s a dramatic mix of deep teals and purples, with that burst of bright, hopeful light breaking through and catching the edge of the pinnacle. That light is the focal point, the moment of awe that I felt standing there.
This painting is my memory and my feeling of that iconic view. It’s about the drama of the Scottish Highlands, the interplay between shadow and light, and the enduring strength of the land. I wanted anyone looking at it to feel a sense of that wild, breathtaking beauty that I was lucky enough to witness.
Thanks for viewing and reading about my artwork, and please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any questions, Kevin.

My Gallery-Quality Canvas Prints | Ready-to-Hang Wall Art
I absolutely love the way my paintings look on canvas. There's a depth and tactile texture that gives the artwork a contemporary, gallery-like feel, almost as if you’re looking at the original piece. That’s why I’m so excited to offer my art on these beautiful, hand-stretched canvases.
Each one is a finished piece of wall art, designed to be a centrepiece in your home the moment it arrives. I’ve worked with a specialist team to ensure every detail meets my high standards, from the vibrant printing to the sturdy, hand-finished frame.
My Commitment to Quality in Every Canvas:
Vibrant, Textured Giclée Canvas: I use the giclée printing method to reproduce my artwork directly onto a finely textured, artist-grade cotton canvas. This process is renowned for its outstanding clarity and detail, while the canvas itself provides a beautiful, tactile finish that truly brings the colours and brushstrokes to life.
Archival Quality & 100+ Year Colour Guarantee: To ensure your art lasts a lifetime, I use fade-resistant, archival-quality inks. I’m so confident in their longevity that I guarantee the colours on your canvas will remain deep, rich, and vibrant for over a century.
Professional Gallery Stretcher Bars: The canvas is meticulously hand-stretched over a sturdy, professional artist’s stretcher frame. I insist on using bars milled from the finest quality, kiln-dried knotless pine. This prevents the frame from ever warping or bowing, ensuring your artwork remains perfectly taut.

My Signature Framed Canvas | The Modern Floating Frame
For me, this is the ultimate way to display my art on canvas. The floater frame is my personal recommendation for anyone wanting to create a true statement piece for their home. It combines the rich, textured presence of a gallery-wrapped canvas with the refined elegance of a solid wood frame, creating a stunning, three-dimensional effect that I absolutely love.
The canvas appears to "float" within the outer frame, a sophisticated presentation style used by high-end art galleries around the world. It’s a beautifully finished, contemporary piece of wall art, designed to become the centrepiece of any room the moment it’s hung.
Why I Believe This is the Ultimate Finish:
The Modern Floating Frame: I’ve chosen a minimalist, solid wood frame that sits just off the edge of the canvas. This creates a subtle shadow and the beautiful illusion that the artwork is suspended or floating. At a substantial 38mm deep, this frame adds a touch of gallery-level sophistication and provides a clean, polished edge to the artwork.
Premium Gallery-Wrapped Canvas: The artwork inside is my signature giclée canvas, printed on artist-grade cotton to capture the stunning clarity and detail of my original painting. The image continues around the sides of the canvas, which you can see in the "float" space, adding depth and interest.
100+ Year Colour Guarantee: Just like all my fine art prints, this framed canvas is created using archival, fade-resistant inks. I’m proud to guarantee that the colours will remain rich, deep, and true for over a century.
Expertly Hand-Finished & Ready to Hang: The canvas is professionally mounted within the floater frame by a specialist team here in the UK. The entire piece arrives as a single, solid unit. It is a complete, finished work of art, ready for you to display.
