This painting captures the striking landscape of Liathach, a prominent mountain in Glen Torridon, located in the Scottish Highlands. Known for its steep rocky slopes and distinctive ridgeline, Liathach towers over the surrounding glen, making it a captivating subject to paint. In this commission, I focused on conveying the mountain's powerful presence while incorporating the softer colours and atmospheric light found in the glen.

The painting features a gradient sky, transitioning from blue through to hints of pink and orange, set above the mountain's massive form. The mountains occupy the lower section of the composition, grounding the scene and reflecting the rugged character of the Highlands. I used layers of colour and loose brushwork to create a sense of depth and movement, drawing attention to the contrast between the mountain and the softer elements of the landscape, such as water and trees.
