About this painting.
"Sandgreen" is an original painting that holds a special place in my heart, born from my travels along the stunning coastline of Dumfries & Galloway. This part of Scotland has a unique, tranquil light, and I was driven to capture the raw, windswept beauty of this particular spot.
As an impressionist artist, I'm fascinated by mood and atmosphere. For this piece, I built up layers of texture to convey the feeling of the coarse grasses swaying in the breeze and the gritty, damp sand underfoot. The vibrant, contrasting colours are my interpretation of the shifting light over the Solway Firth - the cool tones of the sea meeting the warm, earthy hues of the shore.
This isn't just a painting of Sandgreen; it's my memory of it. It's the feeling of peace, the fresh salt in the air, and the timeless beauty of the Scottish coast.
