About this painting.
As a Scottish artist deeply inspired by the rugged beauty of my homeland, I find the Isle of Arran endlessly captivating. "The Sleeping Warrior, Arran" is my heartfelt tribute to the island’s northern hills, where the natural contours create the legendary silhouette of a resting giant. This original painting encapsulates the mystique and grandeur of that landscape, inviting viewers to experience the same sense of awe I felt while painting.
The dynamic interplay of light and shadow on these hills, especially during the golden hours of sunrise and sunset, has always fascinated me. In this artwork, I’ve employed a rich, atmospheric colour palette to mirror the mutable Scottish weather, emphasising the raw, untamed spirit of the terrain. Bold brushstrokes and layered textures breathe life into the canvas, offering a tactile sense of the landscape’s power and serenity.
Creating “The Sleeping Warrior” was a profoundly personal journey. More than a mere depiction of a famous landmark, it reflects my deep connection to Scotland’s wilderness and the timeless stories woven into its hills. This piece aims to bring a slice of that wild beauty into your living space, evoking emotions of wonder and reverence.
This original Scottish landscape painting is ideal for anyone who cherishes Scotland, the Isle of Arran, or has an appreciation for the majestic allure of nature. It stands as a unique, timeless artwork that will spark conversation and admiration in any setting.

My Gallery-Quality Canvas Prints | Ready-to-Hang Wall Art
I truly admire how my paintings transform when printed on canvas. The depth and tactile texture impart a contemporary gallery-like feel, almost as if you are gazing upon the original. That's why I am proud to offer my artwork on these exquisitely hand-stretched canvases.
Each canvas is a complete piece of wall art, ready to become the focal point of your room as soon as it arrives. Collaborating with a dedicated team, I ensure every detail adheres to my exacting standards - from the vibrant, high-resolution printing to the robust, hand-finished stretcher frame.
My Commitment to Quality in Every Canvas:
Vibrant, Textured Giclée Canvas: Utilising the giclée printing technique, my artwork is faithfully reproduced onto a finely textured, artist-grade cotton canvas. This method is renowned for delivering exceptional clarity and detail, while the canvas’s texture enriches the colours and brushstrokes, bringing the piece to vivid life.
Archival Quality & 100+ Year Colour Guarantee: To ensure your artwork remains radiant for generations, I use fade-resistant, archival-grade inks. Confident in their durability, I guarantee the colours will stay deep, rich, and vibrant for over a century.
Professional Gallery Stretcher Bars: Each canvas is meticulously hand-stretched over a sturdy, professional artist’s stretcher frame crafted from high-quality, kiln-dried knotless pine. This prevents warping or bowing, maintaining a perfectly taut surface for your artwork.
Expertly Hand-Finished & Ready to Hang: Every canvas arrives as a fully finished artwork, complete with pre-installed hanging hardware. The image is gallery-wrapped, extending around the edges for a polished look from every angle.
The Sleeping Warrior Arran Canvas is part of the Arran Art Gallery Collection, showcasing the unique charm of Scotland in print.
My Signature Framed Canvas | The Modern Floating Frame
This is my preferred way to present my canvas art. The modern floating frame combines the textured presence of a gallery-wrapped canvas with the elegant sophistication of a solid wood frame, creating a striking three-dimensional effect. It is a contemporary and refined piece designed to command attention in any room.
The canvas appears to float within the frame, a presentation style favoured by eclectic art galleries worldwide. This subtle shadow effect enhances the artwork’s depth and presence, making it a truly distinctive display.
Why I Believe This is the Ultimate Finish:
The Modern Floating Frame: Featuring a minimalist, solid wood frame that sits just off the canvas edge, this design produces a delicate shadow and the illusion of suspension. At a substantial 38mm depth, the frame adds gallery-level polish and a clean, refined finish.
Premium Gallery-Wrapped Canvas: The signature giclée canvas inside is printed on artist-grade cotton to preserve the clarity and detail of the original painting. The image wraps around the sides, visible within the float space, adding dimension and intrigue.
100+ Year Colour Guarantee: Like all my fine art prints, this framed canvas is created with archival, fade-resistant inks, ensuring colour longevity of more than a century.
Expertly Hand-Finished & Ready to Hang: Professionally mounted within the floating frame by a specialist UK team, the finished piece arrives as a single, solid unit - ready to enhance your space immediately.
Available Frame Finishes: Silver, Gold, Brown, Natural, White & Black.
