About this painting.
Inspiration & Concept
From my studio in Scotland, I created Inception Abstract as a visual exploration of beginnings — the moment when energy, colour and form converge to “birth” a feeling. Working in an abstract-impressionistic style allows me to bypass literal representation and instead evoke a mood, a vibration that resonates on a deeper level.
I wanted the viewer to sense the genesis of thought and movement: brushstrokes that spiral or radiate, colour fields that push against one another, textures that hint at both calm and kinetic energy. The title “Inception” reflects this starting-point: the latent potential before anything fully “becomes”.
Technique & Materials
– The painting was executed on deep-edge canvas (3.8 cm depth) to allow the work to stand free from the wall and interact with ambient light and space.
– I layered acrylic (and possibly mixed media) with both broad sweeping movements and more intimate marks, letting the process remain partially intuitive rather than fully planned.
– Colour palette: I chose shades that contrast cooler and warmer tones — perhaps soft grays or muted blues meeting warmer ochres or rich siennas — to create both harmony and tension. The texture is deliberately varied: some areas smooth and quiet, others active and gestural.
– The final result is signed, sealed and ready for display as an original work of art, reflecting my ongoing practice as a Scottish artist specialising in expressive landscape and abstract work.
