About this painting.
As the artist, I wanted to capture the timeless allure of one of Scotland's most iconic landmarks, The Brig O' Doon. This original painting is more than just a depiction of a stone bridge; it's my attempt to convey the mood and atmosphere that surrounds this historic site, so famously associated with Robert Burns.
Using an impasto technique, I applied thick layers of paint to the canvas, creating a rich texture that you can almost feel. This method allows me to build up the rugged stones of the bridge and the flowing water beneath it, giving the piece a tangible, three-dimensional quality. My focus was on the light - how it plays across the ancient stone and reflects in the water, evoking that unique, untamed spirit of the Scottish landscape.
