About this painting.
As the artist, I wanted to capture the timeless allure of one of Scotland's most iconic landmarks, The Brig O' Doon. This original painting is more than just a depiction of a stone bridge; it's my attempt to convey the mood and atmosphere that surrounds this historic site, so famously associated with Robert Burns.
Using an impasto technique, I applied thick layers of paint to the canvas, creating a rich texture that you can almost feel. This method allows me to build up the rugged stones of the bridge and the flowing water beneath it, giving the piece a tangible, three-dimensional quality. My focus was on the light—how it plays across the ancient stone and reflects in the water, evoking that unique, untamed spirit of the Scottish landscape.
This piece is a personal reflection from my "Highlands & Lowlands Art Gallery" collection, a celebration of Scotland's beauty. I hope this original Scottish artwork brings a piece of Scotland's heart and history into your home.
